One-On-One Course details
GPS Fundamentals is the primary course, with an optional add-on course available for the PC Management Software asociated with the client's GPS.
GPS Fundamentals is a 2.5 - 3hour (approx) course, providing tuition on key/core GPS functions to move participants quickly up the learning curve so they can navigate confidently/safely with their GPS. Clients can then go away to self-learn the more advanced and value added functions and options. Course content:
- GPS Overview
- Satellite acquisition
- GPS overall capabilities
- GPS accuracy
- Position determination: GPS v map/compass
- GPS operation: Page layouts; press-button functions/sequences; menu structures
- Main set-up options: coordinate systems; datums; north reference
- Waypoints: Marking and manual entry (editing)
- GoTo and Multi-leg routes
- Track logs and back tracking
- GPS navigation exercises:
- Marking and editing Waypoints
- Navigating to Waypoints (GoTo routes)
- Setting up and navigating Multi-leg routes
- Track logging and backtracking
Try before you buy. This course is also suitable for prospective GPS buyers who want to make sure a GPS meets their needs. A range of basic and mapping GPS can be provided for this purpose.

The PC Management Software course takes approx. 1 hour and provides tuition on the management software associated with the client's GPS(eg Magellan VantagePoint; Garmin MapSource). This course is normally conducted as an add-on to the GPS Fundamentals course, however it can also be conducted as a standalone course where required.
Course contents:
- Communication between GPS and PC
- Set up options
Display mapping on PC
- Creating Waypoints; Routes and Tracks on PC
- Transferring data between GPS and PC (waypoints, routes, tracks)
- Importing and exporting data
